Buteline polymer tee & elbow fittings

Buteline fittings are integrally strong and durable, moulded from thermoplastic and pre-fitted with annealed aluminium sleeves.

These maintenance-free plumbing fittings fittings, once jointed with Buteline Polybutene-1 pipe, form a unique and technically superior joint. Users will find the total concept much quicker and more economical than other available systems. Buteline also have several innovative polymer alternatives to traditional brass fittings available, unique fittings that serve the same purpose (with some improvements in the case of the Bute-1) but allow for peace of mind and a potential cost-saving of up to 45%!Designed using hydraulic engineering concepts proven on high pressure hydraulic fitting-to-hose connections, Buteline fittings have an outstanding feature which enable them to overcome high stresses experienced in installation and while in service. The aluminium rings transfer all loads applied on the tail section to the strongest section of the fittings, thereby eliminating the risk of failure.

Buteline fittings are available in 4 sizes — 10mm, 16mm, 22mm and 28mm.

Fittings are technically superior, giving superb performance and durability over the long term with over 50 years of service life.

Main Advantages of Buteline Fittings

  • Lightweight, slim-line, one-piece design (no O rings or inserts), easy to use compared to bulky brass fittings
  • Post-clamp flare provides visual indication of joint completion

Tests are carried out in accordance with relevant national and international requirements. Equivalent hoop stress pressures for up to 14.7MPa and forces of up to 13,100N are used in determining the strength and resistance to pull out of assembled joints. Test temperatures range between 20°C and 95 ± 1°C.

 

The Technically Superior Joint… Explained

  1. 8mm WIDE FORGED CLAMP Minimum working stress applied (approx. 0.5 ton per sq. in.) allowing pipe material to “flow” into insert tail grooves.
  2. 2mm WIDE FLARE No stress from clamping transmitted to insert tail or pipe at end of fitting. End of metal sleeve cannot impinge into pipe, even in bending.
  3. TAPERED ENTRY, SMOOTH BORE Minimise resistance to water flow.
  4. METAL REINFORCING SLEEVE Guarantees no stress break in this critical area.
  5. FULL LENGTH ALUMINIUM SUPPORT Provides additional rigidity and resistance to pull-off. Seals against dirt and moisture.
  6. SEALING RIBS Narrow lands with wide grooves, ensure clamp stress is transferred into the pipe joint efficiently.

2018 Winter Ruck Sack Project

B-Hive Supplies are proud to be associated with Cool To Be Kind, a Chelmsford based community group focused on helping those of us who sleep rough on our streets.

Following last years success, we are again reaching out to our community to request your help. We need your ruck sack contributions!!!

Cool To Be Kind aims to provide help and support to rough sleepers in the South East. We offer this help and support via our outreach teams, distributing food and clothing twice a week and offering friendship and regular contact. The rucksacks are an essential part this outreach and with the winter weather fast approaching, your contribution could make an enormous and direct difference to real people in our region.

The New Light Weight Over-Lay Underfloor Heating Boards

The Disman Aqualay Underfloor System is easy to install.

Aqualay Master Panels are used to cover the majority of the floor area to be heated. Universal Panels are used as pipe
return ends and for areas with complex layouts allowing the pipe route to be positioned without compromise.
The panels can be fitted onto a wide range of substrates including concrete, screed, asphalt, chipboard and plywood. These panels are not designed to span across floor joists and must be fully supported by the floor which they are to cover. The panels
can be fixed using flexible cement based tile adhesive or low expansion PU Foam with screws and washers. The panels provide
an insulated floor surface with pre-set channels for pipe work.
When the water pipes have been fitted and tested, preparation of the Disman Aqualay surface for the final floor finishes can begin.

The Disman Aqualay Underfloor Heating System Solution is a high performance pipe carrier panel designed for use with Wet/water based systems.

The Disman Aqualay panels are produced with pre-set pipe channels set *100mm, and 150mm centres and comprise of 3 different panel options;

Each panel offers uniquel designed benefits that make Disman Aqualay a superlative system for underfloor heating.Disman Aqualay over-lay panels are designed to provide a durable overlay pipe routing system for use with low pressure water heating and cooling systems. Disman Aqualay provides benefits such as insulation against downward heat loss, heat transfer across pipework centres, improves warm up time to floor finishes and provides controlled spacing for pipe-work. The Disman Aqualay is available with pipe channel centres set at *100mm for 12mm diameter pipe and with 150mm centres for Disman underfloor heating pipe diameters of 12mm and 16mm.

Disman Aqualay Master Panels are manufactured using high density extruded XPS as its core element finished with a hard wearing cementitious surface. Running through the body of each Master Panel is a series of highly effective heat transfer cores, manufactured from a unique conducting cement compound designed to transfer heat from the water pipes to the panel surface. The patented Master Panel is unique in structure, providing insulation against downward heat loss whilst at the same time effectively transferring heat from the water pipe to the floor surface.

Disman Aqualay Universal Panels are manufactured using a lightweight polycement based compound as its core element. These panels provide installers and designers total flexibility for complex pipe route layouts. Disman Aqualay Universal Panels effectively transfer heat across the floor surface, however they don’t offer the same level of insulation as the Disman Aqualay Master Panel.

Disman Aqualay Multiflow Panels are manufactured using high density polystyrene with cement reinforced surfaces. The
eight channels of the Multiflow are designed to retain heat within the water pipe ensuring heated water is directed efficiently to the required heating zone.

A chat with Frank….. A life less hurried.

So, a few months ago I got chatting to a guy I know on Moulsham Street in Chelmsford. He’s a nice old guy, out walking his dog, I know him from the pub. Clearly eager for a chat, he started talking about something he knew I would respond to….. rugby. Probably the one of the few things that this charming, well to do guy and I have in common. So, we chatted for five or ten minutes about the changes in the game since he and I were playing (30 years for him, not so much for me), putting the rugby world to rights.

Anyway, while I was chatting to him, a guy stopped to read the details on the B-Hive Underfloor van. Ever the opportunist, I politely broke the conversation from my evergreen friend and asked if I could help this new guy. Tony, it turned out was re-furbishing a house in Chelmsford but couldn’t find the underfloor heating system that would work for him. So, yet again I started to chat to a guy on the street about something I find very easy to chat about.

Tony’s plan was to completely renovate a 19th century cottage. He was planning on getting as much insulation in as was practicable, replacing all the sash windows with reproductions, using the most efficient gas boiler he could find, whilst trying to maintain the character of the building….. “sounds expensive” I said.

Anyway, as the proportions of this cottage weren’t what he needed for his family, he wanted to do away with any unnecessary bulk in each of the rooms….. specifically radiators (his words). Underfloor heating, he said, was what he wanted.

In the space of about 10 minutes we’d established exactly what he’d use, gone through the pro’s and con’s of each system or solution available on the market, screed, floating, diffusion plates…. everything we could think of between us (he’d done his homework). By the end it seemed the best solution was one that met pretty much all of his needs.

Aligned with the Delta Dore home management control system, to help Tony monitor everything at home from his offices in London, we settled on a solid over-lay system board. Disman routed Fermacell panels laid directly onto the existing floor boards (new insulation below), and run with 12mm MLC pipe back to the centrally place Disman underfloor heating manifold under the stairs.

Raising the floor height by just 19mm, Tony decided that there was more than enough head height in his property and was happy to move forward with pricing and design. Furthermore, this system helped with his wife’s desire for ceramic floor finish, perfect for underfloor and laid directly onto the boards.

A few months latter the system’s in and working, Tony’s happy, his wife is happy, I’m happy and I think Frank, my old buddy on Moulsham Street was happy for the chat. I was in a rush that day…. work, family etc. all the pressures we all experience in day to day life, but I’m glad Frank stopped me. If he hadn’t I wouldn’t have got the sale. I won’t be rushing past him on the street next time….. and I must buy him a pint….or two.
