Clip-Rail Underfloor Heating for Screeded Floor Construction

Self adhesive underfloor heating clip-rail is layed directly onto your insulation layer (Or Polythene Barrier), at roughly 1m spacings leaving at lease 200mm at the edge of the room. Pipe spacing within the clip-rail are at 50mm centers allowing for installation of your pipe at 100, 150, 200mm centers depending on requirement (Refer to your design drawing). Additional pipe clips can be used where the pipe turns place directly into the insulation layer.

This system will typically run at 45 degrees, heating the entire mass of the solid floor structure providing an even heat across the entire floor area. Although not the fastest reacting system available, it is generally recognised as the most efficient system available.



Pipe Clip Underfloor Heating for Screeded Floor Construction

The most common installation option for solid floor installation is the Pipe Clip System. 40 or 60mm U-Clips are used to secure the underfloor heating pipe directly to the insulation layer, piercing the ploythene layer if in use.
Whilst these clips can be inserted by hand, for the sake of the skin on your fingers and your back, we'd always suggest the use of the Clip Gun. In using this system, you have the cheapest and most flexible installation method. Pipes can be laid at your chosen spacings (refer to your design should you have one).

Aluminium Diffusion Plate System for Joisted Floor Construction

Most commonly used on upper floors or refurbishment projects, the aluminium plate system is an ideal system solution for those looking for the benefits of underfloor heating throughout their new or existing home. Whilst B-hive can have these plates produced to any dimension to suit your project specification (call for details), the standard system plates are 1000 x 390mm with pipe spacing at 200mm.

The use of suitable insulation below the plates (Between the joists), is essential to the performance of this solution. As with any underfloor heating system the less heat lost downward, the better. The diffusion plates are nailed/screwed to the joists leaving a 3-5mm gap between the plates to allow for expansion and subsequent noise and also leaving space at the edge of each room for the pipe turn/return. When ordering, allow for 80% floor coverage. The underfloor heating pipe is then simply layed within the plates "U" grooves following your design drawings. 

A fast reacting system, the aluminium plates, whilst in constant contact with the pipe and the floor layed above, spread the heat evenly across the floor surface providing a equal comfort throughout the space above.
